Leave a Legacy

By designating Seattle Humane as a beneficiary in your estate plan, you’ll leave a meaningful legacy of care and compassion for animals for generations to come.

If you have questions or would like assistance during your estate planning process, please get in touch with Hailey Cassell, J.D., senior major gifts and planned giving officer, at 425-373-5387 or e-mail [email protected]. We would love to hear from you and are happy to help!

There are so many ways to support pets in need—during your lifetime and after—at Seattle Humane, including: from a stock transfer, life insurance policy, bank account, investment account, retirement plan, donor advised fund (DAF), or by designation in a will, trust or other estate planning vehicle. By consulting with your attorney or financial planner, you can learn more about how these gifts could reduce your tax bill while also doing incredible good for the pets in our care. Thank you for your generosity!

If you are in the estate planning process, here is brief sample bequest language that may assist you and your attorney:

“I give to The Humane Society for Seattle/King County, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98005, __ [list percentage of the estate, specific dollar amount, or description of property here] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

If you have already designated a planned gift to Seattle Humane, thank you! It would be so helpful if you would fill out our confidential form for our records.

Please note that the policies of Seattle Humane preclude our employees in their professional capacity to serve as a personal representative, executor, trustee or witness.
