Humane education focuses on the connection between people, animals, and the environment. The education team at Seattle Humane, pursues the organization's mission to promote the human-animal bond by inviting schools and families to be part of our life-saving work, supporting youth volunteerism, and facilitating meaningful interactions with companion animals. Our staff and volunteers visit classrooms all around King County, virtually and in-person. We can also attend school-wide events like family nights and career panels. Ask our team about ways to connect your existing STEM, literacy, and SEL curriculum with high-interest animal topics. Request a Visit
Through service learning, students can engage in real-world problem solving while working toward a common goal. Some projects we suggest are:
--Host a coin drive or supply drive. Help us provide critical care where it is needed with your donations.
--Craft together. Make some cozy blankets for animals at the shelter and in foster homes.
--Make a video or story to teach other kids about kindness and responsible pet care. Spread the word and be part of our mission.
--Take care of your community. Sometimes, the pets who need your help the most live right around the corner. Help us keep families together by distributing Kindness Cards. Community Service Packet
