These remarkable individuals and organizations support Seattle Humane’s lifesaving work and essential care for pets in our shelter and community.
Seattle Humane Hero of the Year
Evelyn Barron-Roemer
Hero of the Year recognizes an outstanding volunteer who goes above and beyond in service to Seattle Humane’s mission, and that’s exactly how the Seattle Humane team describes Evelyn Barron-Roemer. In her 15 years of service, she has volunteered with nearly every department, always willing to jump in wherever needed! Evelyn most frequently supports lifesaving transfers and is an expert at Seattle Humane’s animal intake process. Evelyn is also one of our first calls for emergency fosters, primarily those pets with additional needs.
Seattle Humane Community Partner of the Year
Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine
Community Partner of the Year recognizes an organization making a meaningful difference through partnership and collaboration with Seattle Humane. For 13 years, Seattle Humane’s Schuler Family Medical Center has served as a teaching hospital for around 100 WSU College of Veterinary Medicine fourth-year students each year. The two-week rotation allows students to graduate with exponentially more hands-on experience and Seattle Humane to care for more pets and nurture the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Seattle Humane Champion of the Year
Colleen & Jeff Bell
Champion of the Year recognizes individuals advancing Seattle Humane’s mission through philanthropy, advocacy or community leadership, and Colleen and Jeff Bell do all three. From fostering neonate kittens with ringworm to underwriting the purchase of a new transfer vehicle, Colleen and Jeff have made a huge impact on Seattle Humane and the thousands of pets we serve each year.
