SEATTLE HUMANE SOCIETY RAISES $810,000 AT TUXES AND TAILS
Special Fund Will Provide Surgery, Medical Care to Adoptable Dogs
Animal lovers raised more than $810,000 for the Seattle Humane Society tonight at the 19th Annual Tuxes & Tails Celebrity and Pet Fashion Show and Auction. Forty local celebrities walked the runway with their own pets and animals available for adoption during the most “barked about” event of the year.
“It was an amazing evening among caring and generous community leaders who attended to have fun and celebrate the magic of the human and animal bond," said Brenda Barnette, chief executive officer. “We are so grateful to have the wonderful support of our donors and volunteers.”
The special “Fund-a-Need” portion of the live auction raised $290,000 to provide rescue, surgery and medical care to dogs suffering from broken bones, bite wounds, and infections. See a special video here. This fund allows the Seattle Humane Society to rescue these dogs from public shelters, and provide them with the medical care they need to be healthy, happy and adoptable. The $50,000 lead gift for this fund came from Jim and Bet Schuler, and is named in memory of their dog Lexus. Donations to the Lexus Fund can be made on our Donate Now page.
Tuxes & Tails was presented this year by AlphaGraphics, GoMobile and Laird Norton Tyee. Additional sponsors include Safeway, Jeannie and Bruce Nordstrom, The Seattle Seahawks and Michael David wines. For more information on sponsoring Tuxes, go to our Sponsorship page.
