Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! We love our volunteers and could not operate to the full extent that we do without them — they are the heart and center of operations here at Seattle Humane. Volunteers are involved in almost everything we do, from animal care to administrative support, our veterinary clinic to events, and more!

Volunteer FAQs

Can I apply for more than one position?

Yes! Feel free to submit as many applications as you’d like. However, if you are new to Seattle Humane and looking to volunteer in any of our weekly scheduled positions, we may offer just one for you to start with.

I’m not interested in these positions – do you have anything else I could do?

At this time, we only need help with the assignments listed above. However, our volunteer needs are always changing and we’ll likely have different opportunities later! Open volunteer positions will be posted here on a monthly basis, so we encourage you to check back later to see what’s new.

When can I expect to hear back about my application?

Please allow at least a week before following up on the status of your application – depending on the volume of applications received, it can sometimes take several days for staff to review them all and respond. You will receive an email with more information once your application has been reviewed.

If my application is accepted, when do I start volunteering?

Your start date will depend on what position you’re volunteering for. There is general training and onboarding materials that need to be completed by all volunteers prior to joining the program, and many assignments have online training specific to that position which will need to be completed before you report for your first shift. You’ll receive info on all necessary training via email.
