Opportunities to complete court-ordered community service are available through Seattle Humane’s Fluff N’ Fold volunteer program. Fluff N’ Fold volunteers support the daily care of shelter pets by cleaning laundry, dishes, and crates – full details on this position can be found in the position description.
Fluff N’ Fold shifts run seven days a week from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., or 1 – 4 p.m., depending on the availability of open shifts.
Eligibility
Court-ordered service opportunities are open to individuals who:
- Have been court-ordered to complete 9 or more hours of community service
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19
DWI/DUI and traffic or moving violations are accepted in our court-ordered service program. Other types of violations will be subject to review, except for the categories listed below.
Individuals who are convicted of the following are not eligible for Seattle Humane’s volunteer program:
- Animal cruelty or abuse
- Crimes against minors or other vulnerable populations
- Violent crimes
- Sex crimes
- Harassment
How to Get Started
Step 1: Submit a request form here.
Step 2: Keep an eye on your email. You should receive a response within 10 days. If your request is approved, your email will contain a proposed volunteer schedule and more information about next steps.
Step 3: Once your community service hours are complete, Seattle Humane will provide you with a verification letter that you may turn in to the court.
Please allow up to 10 days for us to review your submission – we regret that we cannot accommodate more urgent requests.
We will do our best to help volunteers meet their court deadline, but please be aware that we sometimes have limited space, and placement is not guaranteed. If we are unable to fulfill your request for any reason, we will notify you as soon as possible so you may look into other options.
