I want to volunteer : At Home

How You Can Help From Home

Foster Parent Program
Our volunteers foster more than a thousand animals each year! The care these dedicated volunteers provide is invaluable, both to the animals and to the people who adopt them.  You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals!  Fostering is a rewarding and enriching experience, and is a great volunteer project for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time animal companion.

Time commitment can range from one to eight weeks.  All you need is a room (even a bathroom) and some spare time.  We provide all supplies and any necessary medications. To sign up as a foster parent, simply complete this form and return it to volunteers@seattlehumane.org or mail it to the following address:

Pet Publicist Coordinator
As the Pet Publicist Coordinator you will lead a group of volunteer photographers, writers and handlers to photograph, describe and promote our adoptable companion animals on the internet using our online database tool - PetPoint.  You will recruit, train, and motivate the volunteers.  Estimated time commitment for this position is 5-10 hours per week.  You will need to come to the shelter to train new volunteers, but most of the other work can be done from home.  Visit our Sign Up to Volunteer page if you are interested.

Feature Our Pets on Your Web site!
Showcase our adoptable pets on your Web site!  Just click here, enter in our Shelter ID (WA06), and specify how you want the listing to look.  This is an easy way to help find homes for our shelter guests!
