I have an animal : Walk with KOMO Personalities!
Some of your favorite KOMO personalities are serving as Team Captains for the Walk for the Animals this year, and they’d love for you to join them! Simply click on the picture of the person you’d like to walk with, and you can register to join their team. Our friends at KOMO Newsradio and KOMO 4 News are proud sponsors of the Walk for the Animals.

My name is Brian Calvert, and I work for KOMO Newsradio and TV. This is a picture of me and my dog, Zoe Marie. It was actually taken at the Seattle Humane Society's "Walk For Animals" two years ago...which was just a month after I adopted Zoe (from a shelter, of course). Since that walk with Zoe, we've participated every year, and just last year, made another addition to the family. Zoe's new little brother, Cooper, will be joining us for the walk this year. Thank you so much for everything you do to support the animals, and I look forward to having you on my team!
Hi, my name is Mike Dardis. I'm the Morning Anchor at KOMO-4 News. I have a wonderful wife and two awesome kids, but my family wasn't complete until the addition of Sammy 2- years ago. Sammy is a white Bichon/Shih-Tzu mix and he fits right in. He's a loving dog with a dynamic personality. I'm thrilled that you get to meet him too when I walk for the Seattle Humane Society on Sunday, September 27th.
Sabra Gertsch joined the KOMO 4 News team in November 2008. She anchors the weekend evening broadcasts with Casey Norton. Prior to moving to the Pacific Northwest Sabra spent time in Phoenix, Arizona as a special projects reporter at KSAZ-TV. She anchored weekends at KEYE-TV in Austin, Texas and the morning news at KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her career began with an internship at ABC News PrimeTime Live in Washington D.C. Since then Sabra's work has been honored with multiple Emmy and Associated Press Awards. When she isn't on the air, she is behind the camera. She loves photography and traveling.
Brian Gregory of KOMO is a true Seattleite, attending University Heights, John Marshall and Roosevelt H.S. before going to Western Washington University in Bellingham. He's married, living in Seattle with his wife Carol, their two labs and two cats. Their chocolate labs - Tia and Lily, are the happiest labs on the planet. Tia & Lily are both practicing to become dock diving champions and they love to chase tennis balls, no matter where they fall.
Hi, I'm Manda Factor, co-anchor the morning show on KOMO Newsradio, and here is a picture of our 6-year-old Dalmatian, Maddox. He was abandoned on the steps of the Oregon Humane Society. We adopted him in February, and he's been my best friend ever since. When not reading, watching, or talking about the news, I enjoy playing the piano, cooking and hanging out with Maddox. I spend more time with him than I do my husband. He is a sweet boy with piles of energy and he is ready to walk the 5K with you. Thank you so much for your support! See you all at the Walk!
Hi, I'm Travis Mayfield. Sadie came into the KOMO Newsroom as a pet of the week over a year ago. I took one look at her and knew she had to be part of our family. Everywhere we go people tell us how beautiful she is and ask us what kind of dog she is. Frankly we can only guess (part Basset Hound, part Lab?) but one thing we do know for sure, adopting Sadie was one of the best things to happen to us ever. Her personality fills our home and her companionship completes our lives. We are so thankful for the Seattle King County Humane Society and the work they do in this community in finding homes for dogs like Sadie.
My name is Paul Tosch, Airborne Traffic Reporter for KOMO Newsradio. My wife Stacey and I lost our long time baby kitty, Hazel, at the beginning of this year. We took some time to "let her go" and are now in the process of introducing two little Scottish Fold kittens to our lives. So new to our home and area, little Kissie and Pickle will not be joining us on our "Walk for Animals" this year. . . .but we certainly hope YOU WILL. I'm trying to talk my neighbor Bill into letting me borrow his pride and joy, Pepper (a handsome miniature Schnauzer), to make sure I stay on the path. Join my team, won't you, and we'll stay on the path together. . . . for the animals!
My name is Tracy Vedder and I’m a member of the KOMO Problem Solvers Investigative team. In the photo with me is Marley, our 2 1/2 year old Labradoodle and we adopted him from the Seattle Humane Society in 2007. He is our fourth adopted dog and a pure goofball. Marley is full of life and shenanigans - his favorite things in the world are swimming, catching his Frisbee mid-air, and snuggling with me and my husband. We believe whole-heartedly in adopting dogs and cats and supporting the mission of the Humane Society. So Marley, my husband Dane, and I are all really happy to participate in this year's Walk for the Animals!!!
I’m KOMO ProblemSolver Herb Weisbaum. I have been a long-time supporter of the Seattle Humane Society and currently serve as a member on their Board of Directors. The adorable and handsome Shih Tzu, in the picture with me, is my “best friend” Jack. He can’t walk fast and he can’t walk far, but he sure can wag his tail! Both Jack and I will be at the Walk for the Animals this year and we would love for you to join our team. I look forward to seeing you at University Village!
