I have an animal : For Teachers
Have The MaxMobile Visit Your Classroom!
Teachers: enhance your projects and hands on learning with a visit from our MaxMobile! Max is a 35 foot mobile classroom and adoption vehicle that enables us to bring a bit of the animal shelter to you, including animals. Let us know if you have humane education learning goals that you don’t see addressed here. We may be able to customize lesson plans to meet your objectives. If you would like Max to visit your classroom, email educationservices@seattlehumane.org or call (425) 649-7553. The MaxMobile is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 4:00. Classroom Field Trips
Consider bringing your students to the Seattle Humane Society for a field trip as the culmination of your exploration of humane education topics in the classroom. Many teachers plan a field trip as the capstone to their pet related service project. Field trips are interactive, involve kids in an inquiry-based exploration of the shelter and animal welfare topics, and are aligned with state educational standards. If you are planning a pet food collection event check the donation Wish List for currently needed items
Each field trip is customized to meet your learning objectives and includes a presentation and a guided walk through our facility. It is designed to provide young visitors with a general overview of our operation, as well as info on responsible pet care, animal behavior, and pet overpopulation.
To schedule a field trip, call the education office at (425) 649-7553 or send an email to wendy@seattlehumane.org at least two weeks in advance. Field trips last 60 to 90 minutes depending on the size of your group.
