Teens for Animals

Are you an animal-loving teen, 12-17 years old? Want to learn more about helping animals in need? If the answer to these questions is YES then the Teens for Animals program is for YOU!

We’re looking for animal-loving youth with a passion for learning about animal care and welfare, helping animals in the community, exploring animal-related careers, and developing public speaking and leadership skills. Teens for Animals will teach you all about animals. We’ll share how to help animals in your neighborhood by giving you valuable information you can share with friends and family. Each meeting we'll discuss a new topic related to animal welfare and have a variety of animal interactions throughout the year. Seattle Humane will teach you everything you need to know to be the best Teen for Animals possible! Apply today!

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled or the application deadline (Nov. 12), whichever comes first. Due to space limitations we can only accept 20 teens each year. Teens are chosen based on thoughtfulness and thoroughness of their answers to essay questions and ability to demonstrate their commitment to helping animals in need. We encourage completion of the application process as soon as possible, and will give acceptance priority on a first come, first served basis.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must have an interest in animal welfare, protection, and companionship.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in groups.
  • Must be at least 12, and no older than, 17 years of age by the first meeting.
  • Must submit a completed application by Nov. 17.
  • Must have a positive and respectful attitude towards each other, staff, volunteers and animals.

Well Hello There!

We adopted brother and sister cats who love to play, explore, and be loved. They're also great with our grandchildren and have brought a lot of fun to our household.
