PawPrints Planned Giving Society: Leave A Legacy To The Animals

The Seattle Humane Society's PawPrints Planned Giving Society is a group of caring individuals who have remembered the shelter in their estate plans. Your gift of love and compassion will make a life-saving difference for the animals who are counting on us. Please make sure to use our proper legal name and Tax ID number to ensure your gift benefits the animals at your local humane society.

To leave a bequest, simply write:

"I give to The Humane Society for Seattle/King County, Tax ID#91-0282060, the sum of ________________ dollars." If your gift involves insurance policies, land, stock or other property, please include a description.

We are happy to accept charitable gift annuities, property, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance, retirement plans or appreciated stock. If you are interested in more information about remembering us in your will, please contact us today! Email CEO Brenda Barnette at brenda@seattlehumane.org or call (425) 649-7550.

If you have already remembered the Seattle Humane Society in your estate plans, please contact us to make sure we have included you as a member of PawPrints. Please return this enrollment form so that we can include you in special events and celebrations during the year or contact CEO Brenda Barnette at brenda@seattlehumane.org or call (425) 649-7550.

Seattle Humane Society Pet Guardian Program

We also provide donors and supporters the peace of mind with the guarantee that we will be there for their beloved companions when they are no longer able to care for them due to disability or death. The SHS Pet Guardian Program is a free service for Seattle Humane Society adopters and members who specify in their wills or trust documents that their pet companions are to be entrusted to the Seattle Humane Society at the time of their death. This is our way of being there for your pet when you are no longer able to be there yourself.

We recommend that the guardian prepare written instructions including the pet’s likes and dislikes and the name of the pet’s regular veterinarian. The information should be updated every six months and kept at home in a safe place. The caregiver should also make arrangements with a trusted friend or relative to transport the pet to the Seattle Humane Society when the time comes. The Seattle Humane Society is located at 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98005.

Contact CEO Brenda Barnette at brenda@seattlehumane.org or call (425) 649-7550 if you are bringing in an animal who is part of the SHS Pet Guardian Program so we can arrange a special appointment.  The pet will be evaluated by our veterinarian and will be given any special care needed. Then we will begin looking for another loving home for the pet. At the Seattle Humane Society, no animal suitable for re-homing is ever put to death…no matter how long it takes. We are a completely privately-funded animal shelter.
