Executive Assistant/Volunteer Services Associate

We have an exciting opening for an Executive Assistant/Volunteer Services Associate! This person will assist our CEO and our Volunteer Services department. We are looking for a dynamic, detailed person with strong time management and organizational skills. The Executive Assistant is responsible for assisting the CEO with correspondence, coordinating his calendar, setting up meetings and recording minutes and maintaining executive and board files and records. The Volunteer Services Associate is responsible for implementing and assisting with volunteer orientations, and is accountable for accomplishing department goals, maintaining consistent and open communication between staff and volunteers, answering requests of volunteer services and assisting with the volunteer evaluation and recognition process.

Facilities Technician/MaxMobile Driver

We have an opening for a responsible, dependable, maintenance/facilities technician and MaxMobile Driver. Accountable for routine maintenance work to maintain shelter, office environment and building grounds appearance. This position also involves driving our 38’ mobile adoption vehicle to events around King County. If you’re a jack-of-all-trades and love to drive, this might be the job for you! This is a full-time position, must be able to work at least one weekend day.

Clinical Instructor – Shelter Medicine

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University is seeking a full-time Clinical Instructor in Shelter Medicine Practice for its teaching program partnership with the Seattle Humane Society.  This position will operate exclusively out of the Seattle Humane Society (SHS) in Bellevue, WA (  The position will begin as soon as an acceptable candidate has been identified and the candidate can relocate to Seattle.  The position will be responsible for instruction of DVM students on clinical rotations in an established partnership with SHS.  Depending on experience and qualifications, opportunities may exist for shared responsibilities within the SHS structure as well.  Specific duties will include (but may not be limited to); case management, supervision of staff, coordination of the clinical and teaching service with other staff, administrators and services of SHS and interactions with faculty and administrators within WSU-Pullman.  The instructor may have opportunities to participate in additional didactic teaching and scholarly activity in collaboration with WSU-Pullman faculty. This is an annually renewable position. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The candidate must possess a DVM or equivalent degree, have experience in shelter medicine, public or academic practice; be proficient in general medicine, surgery and dentistry; and have the ability to effectively communicate and work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.  Preferred qualifications include specialty training in shelter medicine and experience in teaching.

Seattle Humane promotes the human-animal bond by saving and serving pets in need, regardless of age, ability, circumstance or geography.  We are an independent, non-profit shelter with a 98.3% save rate.  In 2016, we placed nearly 7,000 pets into loving homes and provided income-qualified households with access to affordable spay/neuter services through our shelter clinic.  The construction of our new, state-of-the-art shelter is nearly complete, with our doors scheduled to open in July 2017.

Well Hello There!

Frida blossomed into a social butterfly. She now loves going to the park and snuggling. She has filled my heart with happiness since adopting her almost two years ago!
